Hundreds of thousands of squares of various sizes and colors were used to create the portrait of my daughters in “Misguiding Light”. I developed this style and technique nearly twenty years ago. It started as an investigation in how a computer interprets our visual world with the use of pixels and tone. Over time the process has evolved; I have used different mediums and developed different systems of pixel hierarchy. More recently, I am experimenting with soft pastels and the rosette pattern process and color theory. “Misguiding Light” was drawn four times: first in yellow, then in magenta, then in cyan, and lastly in black.
